    The MBTA is expected to pick a winning biddder Friday for its largest ever construction contract, the 4.7 mile extension of the Green Line through Somerville and Medford. The award, which the agency has capped at $1.3 billion, will mark a significant milestone for a long-planned rapid transit project that underwent substantial changes after ballooning costs threatened to kill it altogether in 2015.
