The City of Medford is in the process of upgrading all 4,500 cobrahead City owned streetlights to LED. The upgrade will save money, reduce our environmental impact by reducing energy usage, and cut maintenance costs. The City has received grants from the DOER and MAPC to help offset the costs of the upgrade, and will receive incentives from National Grid as well.
In upgrading, we want the community’s input so that we select the proper lighting. Sample lights have been installed in West Medford on High Street, Playstead Road, Warren Street and Irving Street. Please provide your feedback on the lights, their intensities, color temperatures, and styles.
Please take a few minutes to look at the lights, after dark, and fill out the survey here: http://bit.ly/MedfordLights (there is a map to show you where the sample LED lights are installed)
Questions can be directed to Alicia Hunt, Director of Energy & Environment, 781-393-2137, ahunt@medford-ma.gov.
